Ready to take your knitting skills to the next level? Join us for a fun and relaxing workshop where you’ll learn the anatomy of a sock with a fresh perspective. Hand-knitted socks endure friction and daily wear, are breathable, warm and cosy to wear. Whether you're a confident beginner or a seasoned knitter, this class will take you to the next level of sock construction, from cuff to toe. This workshop is for you if you know how to knit in the round and you want to solve all those little problems that crop up along the way when joining in the round, picking up stitches without holes, seamless grafting and much more.

Learn various techniques of:

  • Week 1 - The Anatomy of a sock, hints on sizing, choosing yarn, the cuff and the leg

  • Week 2 - Heels - slip stitch and gusset, afterthought heel, and eye of partridge.

  • Week 3 - The leg, using a sock chimney

  • Week 4 - Grafting Toes - Kitchener Stitch, Embellishments - ruffles, stripes (weaving in ends).

REQUIREMENTS FOR SOCK CLASS

  • Yarn -100g fingering weight sock yarn – sock yarn is a combination of wool (for warmth) and nylon or polyamide (for strength)

    Needles

  • 2.5mm circular interchangeable or fixed with 80-100cm cable; or

  • 2.5mm set double pointed needles (DPN’s)

    Notions

  • Tapestry needle

  • Scissors

  • Tape measure

  • Stitch markers

  • Project bag

  • Notebook and pen

  • Spare thread (4 ply cotton in contrasting colour)

  • Any other notions you can’t live without
