Ready to take your knitting skills to the next level? Join us for a fun and relaxing workshop where you’ll learn the anatomy of a sock with a fresh perspective. Hand-knitted socks endure friction and daily wear, are breathable, warm and cosy to wear. Whether you're a confident beginner or a seasoned knitter, this class will take you to the next level of sock construction, from cuff to toe. This workshop is for you if you know how to knit in the round and you want to solve all those little problems that crop up along the way when joining in the round, picking up stitches without holes, seamless grafting and much more.
Learn various techniques of:
Week 1 - The Anatomy of a sock, hints on sizing, choosing yarn, the cuff and the leg
Week 2 - Heels - slip stitch and gusset, afterthought heel, and eye of partridge.
Week 3 - The leg, using a sock chimney
Week 4 - Grafting Toes - Kitchener Stitch, Embellishments - ruffles, stripes (weaving in ends).
As a special offer to this workshop, Susan will be selling a goody box filled with treats valued at $75 for the participants. It will be on sale at $35, and inside you can expect to find Victory sock yarn and mini skeins for embellishments, Original pattern by Susan -” White Lilly Designs” , Project bag and other special knitting goodies. Requirements:
2.25mm needles*, either circular needles with 100cm cable or DPN’s. Susan will demonstrate with circular needles. Spare needles are handy for embellishments.
100g sock wool of your choice (Susan will also have a selection of “Victory” hand-dyed sock yarns for sale on the day for $30/100g)
Tapestry needle*
Scissors*
Stitch markers*
Spare thread (4ply cotton) and barber cords are handy
Any other knitting notions you can’t live without
