Japanese Coin Purse
Date: Wednesday 6th & 13th May
Time: 1pm - 3:30pm
Tutor: Janice Miller
Spend a day stitching your very own Japanese-style coin purse in this hands-on workshop inspired by traditional stitching. You’ll learn how to sew and assemble this purse in a distinctive Japanese style, exploring thoughtful construction techniques and beautiful fabric combinations along the way.
From this workshop you will learn English paper piecing and using Sashiko inspired quilting, Janice will also show you her technique for making a cord and tassel to finish off the project. With guidance at every step, you’ll stitch, shape and finish a practical little purse that’s perfect for coins, jewellery, or small treasures.
Bring your own fabric or choose from a selection of curated fabric kits featuring complementary prints and linings, and learn the tips and tricks that give this purse its unique character and polished finish. Kits will be available to purchase on the day, so you can simply arrive ready to create and leave with a completed purse to treasure or gift at the end of your workshops.
