Stitch Memories

Stitch Memories
Date: Sunday 15th June
Time: 10am - 3pm
Tutor: Shirley Pygott
Mixed media with picture or word 'skins'
Create a picture or word 'skin' with markers and glue, then integrate it with ephemera, keepsakes (actual or photocopies) and simple stitching to create a mixed media memory of an event or a place. This technique is also useful in scrapbooking.
All levels, only simple stitching used
Some suggestions:
A dwelling using plans, and leftover pieces of decorating items such as wallpaper, tiles, paint scraps, slivers of wood, etc.
A holiday destination using a photo, tickets, brochures, an itinerary, handwritten diary entry.
A wedding using a photo of the venue, invitation, placecard, fabric from dresses.
Requirement List
$10 for workshop notes and use of art materials, skin medium, freezer paper, organza (payable on the day)
A picture from your chosen theme to use to create your background skin - it needs to be approx 15cm x 12 cm . We will only trace it , so it will not be damaged
Ephemera/memorabilia to use under and on top of the 'skin' we will create. These will be used as is, but you can bring photocopies.
Something to use as a background - eg a map, wallpaper, wrapping paper, tissue paper, fabric. Newspaper would work but a photocopy is better than a real paper
Beads and ribbons may be useful if it fits your theme
A small selection of co-ordinating stranded cottons, crewel/embroidery needs in sizes 6-9*
Scissors suitable for paper
*** Items can be obtained at The Makers Table, please let me know if you need these for the workshop.
